Shimadzu SPG-120-REVFor high-speed optical spectrometry applications, Shimadzu Corp. has introduced a compact monochromator system that achieves wavelength changes 10 times faster than conventional models.

The SPG-120-REV features a stepper motor that directly drives the diffraction grating, providing a wavelength positioning speed of 500 nm/s. This increases throughput for applications that require measurements of large numbers of samples, multiwavelength analysis of individual samples, and 2-D mapping of the surfaces of materials and devices. A 150-W xenon lamp provides the light source.

Applications include in-line inspection of flat panel displays and food, monitoring vacuum evaporation of thin films, spectral mapping of solar cell materials and optical devices, and evaluation of spectral characteristics of cameras.
