NORTH SUTTON, N.H., Dec. 20, 2010 — Designed for a full range of LED characterization measurements, Labsphere’s CDS-5400 and CDS-9800 high-speed LED spectrometers offer reliability, speed and accuracy with a choice of spectral range to suit specific application needs. Fiber optic connectors connect them to a variety of measurement devices for spectroradiometric and photometric measurements for solid-state lighting.

When used with the company’s integrating spheres, the spectrometers measure critical spectral characteristics of LEDs, including flux; purity; intensity; luminance; tristimulus values; chromaticity coordinates; dominant, peak, and centroid wavelengths; and correlated color temperature and color rendering properties. To capture and organize data, dynamic link library drivers are available to connect the spectrometers to proprietary quality assurance, calibration and production software.

With a spectral range of 305 to 930 nm and a 2-ms integration time, the CDS-5400 is well suited for production line testing of high-brightness LEDs. For applications including fixed quantity ultraviolet and quantum efficiency measurement, the CDS-9800 has a wide dynamic range and is available in four models that cover the spectral range of 240 to 1100 nm. With low stray light, the CDS-9800 is intended for demanding R&D environments where precision is critical and a wide variety of devices must be tested.

The CDS-5400 features a thermoelectrically cooled back-thinned 1044 × 64 CCD detector, a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter and a USB 2.0 interface. It measures 280 × 160 × 296 mm and weighs 10 kg.

The CDS-9800 features a dynamic range of 1,500,000:1, a synchronized external trigger, a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter and a USB 2.0 interface. It measures 110 × 230 × 282 mm and weighs 6 kg. It is suited for high-precision fixed-quantity ultraviolet and quantum efficiency measurement, and production line use.
