SCHOTT North America Inc., Lighting & ImagingRequest Info
SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., July 15 -- Schott North America Inc. is offering new high-resolution fiber optic faceplates and tapers based on technology that is the result of two years of research and development. Using a multistep fiber drawing process, a unique heating method allows for the production of very small fiber diameters, from as little as 2.5 µm up to 6 µm, and provides high-resolution, low-shear image transmission for coherent fiber optic faceplates and tapers.
This technology has applications in medical x-ray, industrial x-ray and display applications. It is also used in night-vision applications in the defense industry and for high-resolution image intensification for commercial security applications.
High-resolution imaging fiber optics for faceplates and tapers are available in sizes up to 2.5 inches in diameter. Optical properties include a wide acceptance angle (numerical aperture = 1.0) and resolution up to 228 lp/mm.
