HUDSON, N.H., Aug. 13, 2013 — Holo/OR Ltd.’s new diffractive optical vortex element makes it possible to achieve homogeneous material removal in laser materials processing, said its distributor, Laser Components.

With a donut-shaped diffractive optical vortex element inside a square outside profile, the Vortex DOE offers a square outer cross section. As a laser beam focuses the highest beam intensity at its center, the Vortex element redirects the power to its edges to enable higher efficiency for the entire system.
