DURYEA, Pa., Sept. 16, 2013 —

Schott North America Inc. has announced that selected glass types of up to H4 quality level will now be available and can be ordered in the form of cut blanks, starting shortly. Schott also will offer glass for large, high-precision optics up to the homogeneity level H5. Both levels are suitable for high-power laser and astronomical applications and for measurement, semiconductor and satellite technology.

Glass pieces of H4 quality have a maximum peak-to-valley refractive index variation of 2 × 10−6, while those of H5 quality level achieve a value of 1 × 10−6, as expressed in accordance with ISO 12123.

The H4 glass comes in block form with widths from 150 to 400 mm; in disc form, its diameters range from 170 to 290 mm.

All products are shipped with an individual test report that was produced using a special interferometer.
