EdmundOptics.jpgTechSpec uncoated homogenizing rods from Edmund Optics Inc. use total internal reflection to integrate nonuniform light sources. Available with 2-, 5- and 10-mm apertures, the rods have a hexagonal cross section and a length of approximately 12 times the aperture size. The rods are suitable for focusing multiple LEDs and for other spherical point-source wavefronts, and the company says that they provide up to 35% greater efficiency than square rods.
