OTTAWA, Ontario, Oct. 23, 2019 — Hybrid gain flattening filters (GFF) from Iridian Spectral Technologies Ltd. offer additional optical capabilities.

The filters can block the pump laser from light in the range of approximately 980 to 1480 nm while providing gain flattening for signal light amplification without the need for an additional pump wavelength blocking filter. It can be designed to pass or block other wavelengths in the 900 to 1700 nm band.

This combined functional filter is very useful in the application of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and other optical modules, which can improve the optical performance while reducing the size and cost of the module.
