Hygiene Sensor
SICK Inc.Request Info
Sick has launched the W4S-3, a hygiene photoelectric sensor for harsh wash-down environments in the food and beverage industry.
The company says the device’s stainless steel housing retains cleaning agents better than plastic housings and eliminates bacteria growth in applications where food may become lodged in small grooves, crevices or mounting holes. Rated IP69K, it withstands tough environments and temperatures ranging from −40° to 70° C. It provides a simple teach button and an LED indicator that shows status and power.
Its proprietary third-generation custom ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) incorporates OES3 technology that provides background and foreground suppression at an extended range. It ignores stray background reflections, detects multicolored/shiny objects and provides high immunity to ambient light.
