Point Grey Research Inc. has developed an improved version of its digital board-level IEEE-1394a camera. Dragonfly2 doubles the frame rate of the original camera and adds several OEM-requested enhancements, including onboard color processing with YUV or RGB output, an asynchronous hardware trigger up to a full frame rate, four general-purpose IO pins with programmable delays, 2 × 2 binning, a 12-bit digitizer, a programmable look-up table, auto-iris lens support and user-accessible onboard nonvolatile memory. The device is available with 1/3-in. progressive-scan CCDs running at 60 fps with 640 × 480-pixel resolution or at 30 fps with 1024 × 768-pixel resolution in both color and monochrome.
