A line of discrete IR LEDs for high-power, high-speed emission in wireless connectivity, imaging systems and analysis equipment has been unveiled by Ledtronics Inc. The devices use semiconductor compounds to produce 850-, 880- and 940-nm emission. The SMT model, which measures 3.4 x 8 mm, comes in a plastic housing that allows IR functionality in miniature electronic devices; the T1 model, which is 3 mm, has an 18° emission angle; and the T1-¾ models, 5 mm, are available in two emission angles, 40° and 20°. The T1 and T1-¾ models have strong leads to hold up to the stress of wire wrap and through-hole applications.
