The eXcite intelligent camera series announced by Basler AG integrates a high-quality digital camera and a high-performance PC in a compact housing. Its 1.0-GHz MIPS processor runs under Linux. Frame rates range from 60 to 180 fps at VGA resolution. Performing precise measurement and positioning, the system is suitable for inspection and identification applications. Features include optocoupled digital inputs and outputs, a fast Gigabit Ethernet port, a serial interface and high-speed USB 2.0 ports. Calculated results are fed directly into the production process, without the need for additional hardware. Defective parts on a production line are detected and automatically triggered for removal.
