QED Technologies introduces a subaperture stitching interferometer that, it says, increases the utility of a standard Fizeau interferometer by more than five times. SSI, a six-axis computer-controlled workstation, provides automated, high-precision metrology for up to 200-mm-diameter plano, convex and concave parts with clear apertures and high numerical apertures, including hemispherical components. One benefit is automated subtraction of the reference optic's quality. The instrument can be used as a stand-alone metrology system or in combination with the company's Q22 magnetorheological finishing machines.
