Providing near-diffraction-limited focusing over their full spectral range, TechSpec infrared achromatic lenses by Edmund Optics Inc. are color-corrected for 3 to 5 μm (mid-wavelength infrared) or 8 to 12 μm (long-wavelength infrared). They are available with a 30-mm diameter and focal lengths of 40, 50, 60 and 75 mm. The lenses are suitable for applications in Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermal imaging, and for use with tunable quantum cascade and other infrared lasers. They offer improved performance when compared to traditional singlets, according to the company, allowing designers of industrial, medical, scientific and military applications to use the entire dynamic range and quantum efficiency of their infrared sensors for a variety of OEM and laboratory uses.
