Process Sensors Corp.’s newly released, self-contained, Metis HS09/HI16 noncontact infrared temperature sensors capture 20,000 measurements per second with a 50-μs response time. The three models in the HS/HI series operate over a temperature span of 250 to 2500 °C and open up applications in high-speed ferrous and nonferrous metals processing, ceramics and semiconductors, and in research environments where short-duration phenomena such as explosions must be monitored. Target spot sizes of 0.35 to 4000 mm in diameter are offered, using standard focusable optics, and 0.5 to 40 mm with focusable lens fiber optics. Other features include laser aiming and through-lens sighting, and an integral black-and-white video camera for monitoring the target area in hazardous or hard-to-access locations.
