FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 3, 2014 — A new optical ice sensor from New Avionics Corp. allows automated monitoring inside industrial HVAC cooling towers.

The Ice*Meister Model 9734-HVAC bright blue LED signals a data logging system whenever ice forms on the acrylic optical probe. The probe is insensitive to a film of water but can detect <0.1 in. of ice.

The system can be used to help reduce the risk of ice damage, as well as limit inconvenient and hazardous topside ice inspections during wintertime.
