PRINCETON, N.J., March 11, 2010 – Sensors Unlimited Inc., part of Goodrich ISR Systems, has introduced two cameras with enhancements that expand the dynamic range of short wave infrared (SWIR) imagery. The InGaAs SWIR SU320KTX has a 320 × 240-pixel format with a 40-µm pixel pitch, and the SU640KTSX has a 640 × 512-pixel format with a 25-µm pixel pitch. Both automatically compensate for variations in light levels that may differ by up to five orders of magnitude. This increase in dynamic range makes them suitable for imaging and surveillance in military, medical and commercial applications.
Easy-to-integrate into mobile, handheld or aerial surveillance systems, the cameras are compact, lightweight and feature low power consumption. The simultaneous RS-170 analog and 12-bit Camera Link digital outputs provide plug-and-play video and high-quality images for image processing or transmission. They detect reflected light at wavelengths that the human eye cannot see, providing real-time daylight-to-low-light imaging and making them suitable for use in laser detection, emission microscopy, imaging spectroscopy, astronomy, and imaging through fog, dust and smoke. They operate in the 0.9- to 1.7-µm range.
Building on proprietary solid-state, room-temperature focal plane array technology, the cameras employ onboard automatic gain control and adjustable enhancement thresholds. The built-in nonuniformity corrections address the challenges of urban night imaging without blooming.
