RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada, Oct. 7, 2014 — A new VGA global shutter CCD model has been added to the Blackfly industrial camera family from Point Grey Research Inc.

The new Blackfly BFLY-PGE-03S3 is based on color and monochrome versions of the Sony ICX414, a ½-in. CCD featuring 9.9-µm square pixels and capable of 648 × 488 pixel resolution at 90 fps.

The camera supports cable lengths of up 100 m using Gigabit Ethernet, is compatible with third-party imaging libraries and provides power over Ethernet (PoE), temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, lookup table, gamma correction and pixel binning functionality.

Applications include automated inspection, panel alignment and 3-D scanning.
