OBERKOCHEN, Germany, Oct. 31, 2014 — New lenses from Zeiss are intended for unmanned aerial vehicles, crash testing, traffic enforcement and machine vision.

The lenses have flange focal lengths of 26.8 mm, with a compact design resistant to shocks and vibration. They have an M42 thread and create an image circle of 43 mm.

Three models are available: Biogon T* 2,8/21 Z-M42-I; Biogon T* 2/35 Z-M42-I, which has a 35-mm focal length, a maximum aperture of f/2.0 and distortion of max. 0.15 percent; and C-Sonnar T* 1,5/50 Z-M42-I, with a 50-mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.5.

The lenses are suited for imaging on area sensors between 1.3 in. and 24 × 36 mm, or line sensors between 28 and 43 mm.
