WETZLAR, Germany, March 16, 2015 — Leica Microsystems DMi8Leica Microsystems’ new modular DMi8 inverted microscope platform is designed for industrial applications.

The inverted design makes sample placement and change between samples faster than in upright microscopy.

It can also image large and heavy samples more easily. The stage carries up to 30 kg in weight, and sample height is not restricted.

Its macro objective (which is not available in Japan) offers a field of view of 35 mm, four times more than a standard objective. The company’s Ultra Contrast 3D Illumination system allows users to view surface features in high contrast.

Applications include metallography, quality assurance in medical device or microelectronics manufacturing, automotive and aviation inspection and materials science.
