ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Sept. 11, 2019 — Infrared Defense SystemThe Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM) system from Northrop Grumman Corp. is designed to protect aircraft from current and emerging IR threats.

CIRCM is a lightweight countermeasure system that uses laser energy to defend aircraft. Its modular, open systems architecture allows for easy integration. Designed specifically to protect rotary wing and medium fixed wing aircraft from IR missiles, the CIRCM works with existing hardware to simplify upgrades and keep lifecycle costs low.

The system uses a compact pointer, a lightweight processor, and advanced quantum cascade laser technology for greater reliability and scalability.
