The iC-PN series launched by iC-Haus GmbH includes new optical scanner integrated circuits as a phased array for absolute position sensing devices and high-resolution absolute encoder integrated circuits for Nonius interpolation. A minimal sensor area of 1.9 x 3.3 mm is sufficient for the optical sensors in the series to scan encoder discs and generate sine signals in top high-fidelity quality, according to the company. Evaluation is carried out by interpolating encoder iC-MN using a Nonius calculation, permitting a high angle resolution of 21 bits, for example, with a small code disc diameter of 26 mm. Unlike conventional absolute encoder sensors, iC-PN sensors do not scan digital position information, saving on assembly space and simplifying illumination.
