Reflectance/Transmittance Integrating SphereThe RT sphere from Spectral Evolution is a portable, compact, 4-in. reflectance/transmittance integrating sphere for measuring the reflectance and transmittance of a wide variety of material types.

The device can be taken into the field for in situ measurements, delivered with a stand as well as a ¼-20 mount for use with tripods. Users can diffuse light reflected from a sample to measure total hemispherical reflectance while calculating absorption at varying bulb intensity levels.

The sphere allows researchers to limit destructive sampling and provide timely data acquisition of key material samples. It can be used, for example, in vegetation studies to derive absorbance characteristics and estimate the leaf area index from radiation reflected from a canopy surface.
