Integrating Sphere Detectors Newport Integrating sphere detectors have a photodiode detector mounted on integrating spheres with various sizes and is calibrated as a system, compensating for the attenuation caused by the sphere. The input beam is diffused inside the sphere so that the measurements are less sensitive to errors caused by detector position and angle sensitivity, overfilling, and saturation, or the divergence angle and polarization of the input beam.
