Interline CCD Camera Extension
Oxford InstrumentsRequest Info
BELFAST, UK, Feb. 12, 2010 – Andor Technology has expanded its Clara line of scientific interline CCD cameras with the launch of the Clara E. Based around the 1.3-megapixel ICX285 sensor from Sony, it is engineered for high sensitivity, high resolution and a high dynamic range of >6000:1 standard, and higher when binned.
The camera leverages the proprietary and proven UltraVac vacuum process, delivering thermoelectric air cooling performance to -20 °C for reduction of dark current, complementing a low read noise of 3 e- at 1 MHz. Dynamic events can be followed with good quantitative stability via low-noise 10- or 20-MHz readout modes, the data channeled through a USB 2.0 interface that provides plug-and-play connectivity. Proprietary iCam technology and comprehensive input/output functionality enable good acquisition efficiency through live-cell microscopy software, and an accurate field-programmable gate array hardware-generated time stamp ensures absolute temporal precision to 12.5 ns. The compact, robust design and accessible software development kit render the camera suited to OEM integration.
Active pixels are 1392 × 1040, pixel size is 6.45 × 6.45 µm, and the image area is 8.98 × 6.71 mm. Maximum operating frame rate is 11.6 fps. The camera offers 14- and 16-bit digitization and an enhanced baseline clamp for quantitative accuracy of dynamic measurements.
Maximum linearity is 1%, and operating temperature is from 0 to 35 °C ambient. Voltage is 12 V ±5%, maximum current is 3 A at peak cooling, maximum ripple and noise is 200 mV, and maximum total power is 36 W.
Applications include wide-field fluorescence microscopy, living and fixed cells, ion signaling, single-molecule detection, fluorescent proteins, fluorescence in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, comet assay, high-content screening, and spectral and ophthalmic imaging.
