The optical design of Till Photonics GmbH’s Intravital2P microscope, dedicated to intravital imaging, increases light collection efficiency for dual-color two-photon microscopy. The ultracompact imaging platform provides an optimized dual-emission beam path for high collection efficiency in both detection channels. The enhanced signal detection facilitates imaging at low-light levels and improves signal-to-noise ratios for dynamic measurements deep within highly scattering tissue. The proprietary Yanus scan head provides good scan quality with homogeneous two-photon excitation as well as large-area scanning. Combined with its fast scanning speeds, the microscope enables long-term in vivo imaging with reduced phototoxic effects. The voice coil-based focus drive combines excursions of up to 7.5 mm with 50-nm resolution, step response time of <10 ms and high speed for 3-D views of the sample.
