The Imaging Solutions Group of New York Inc. (ISG) is offering cameras with onboard jpeg/motion-jpeg compression to reduce bandwidth in military applications and in the Internet monitoring, security and surveillance fields. With this option, high-quality high-resolution images can be streamed over industry-standard interfaces, including FireWire and 10- and 100-Gigabit Ethernet. The LightWise LW-1.3-S-1394-C-JPEG and the LW-1.3-S-Ethernet cameras have 1280 × 1024 pixels and operate at 30 fps with 24-bit RGB data via 1394a or 10/100 Ethernet, without image degradation. The latter also is supplied with an NTSC output for local monitoring.
