DORTMUND, Germany, March 5, 2012 — A new version of the L-mount fiber-coupled diode laser module has been introduced by LIMO Lissotschenko Mikrooptik GmbH. With its 60 W of power, it delivers high output in a small fiber diameter of 200 μm.
Dimensions, including connections, are 109 × 25 × 20 mm. Engineered for wavelengths of 976 and 981 nm, it is suited for pumping solid-state and fiber lasers. A filter protects the chip in the L-mount from destruction by any reflected external beams from a pumped laser system.
The module also is available in a cladding mode-free version in which the light is directed only within the core and not in the fiber cladding. A volume holographic grating reduces the deviation of the laser beam from the set wavelength from 2 nm to <1 nm, increasing beam quality.
The laser is also supplied as an open beam module (maximum power of 70 W) that does not have a fiber connection but emits a rectangular laser beam of 10 × 5 mm via a window.
