L3D Low-Light-Level Detection

NUREMBERG, Germany, May 27, 2010 — PerkinElmer Inc. has debuted a solutions platform for demanding low-light-level detection applications, called L3D.

The suite has applications in confocal microscopy, fluorescence and luminescence, molecular/positron emission tomography imaging, nucleic acid amplification, particle sizing, and research and scientific instrumentation.

The photon detection products include avalanche photodiodes, single-photon-counting modules, channel photomultipliers and silicon photomultipliers, suited to demanding clinical diagnostics, molecular imaging and analytical instrumentation needs.

Products in the family include a short-wavelength-enhanced silicon avalanche photodiode for use in molecular imaging and fluorescence detection applications. A gigahertz photon detection module designed for analytical and clinical diagnostic applications under low-light-level conditions delivers a high dynamic range and low noise.

Single-photon-counting modules produce high photon detection efficiency and low dark noise for confocal microscopy, particle sizing and time-correlated single-photon-counting applications.

The L3D silicon photomultipliers leverage Max Planck Innovation’s ultrafast, low cross-talk technology that produces high photon detection efficiency and ultrashort response times.
