Keyence Corp. of America's LS-5000 laser-scan micrometer series has 0.05-µm resolution and a 1200-cps scan frequency. The controller processes data from up to four sets of scan heads with simultaneous monitoring of all four channels. Production applications for the LS-5000 include the measurement of an object's height on up to four separate assembly lines, the thickness of sheets and thin films, the gaps between rollers, and the distance between pins during semiconductor manufacturing.
