Power Technology Inc. has redesigned its IQ laser diode module for increased stability and efficiency. It operates on 5 VDC, resulting in less waste heat and increased lifetime, and is a drop-in replacement for the original. The company says that the improved version operates over a wider thermal range and provides better pointing stability. A precision current source and a PID temperature controller produce power, temperature and wavelength stability. Available with an elliptical or a circularized beam, the module can host laser diodes with wavelengths in the UV, the visible and the IR, and can operate in CW mode or with analog or TTL modulation.
