Ophir Optronics Inc.'s enhanced Smart Head to USB interface supports the company's laser power/energy heads, including the pyroelectric pulsed-energy types. The interface, which can convert a Windows-based PC or laptop into a multichannel laser power/energy meter, includes the ActiveX software, which enables users to control the unit from their own software. With the interface and software installed, a computer can log power or energy measurements up to 4000 Hz and provide statistics, histograms and detailed graphical displays. Up to 10 heads can be displayed simultaneously on one computer, and no external power source is required.
