Ophir Optronics Inc. Ophir Optronics Inc. has introduced a battery-operated, handheld, high-power and high-precision probe that measures laser power from 200 to 10,000 W. The Comet is calibrated for CO2, YAG and diode lasers, offering a spectral range of 10.6 µm for CO2 and of 800 to 1064 nm for YAG. It provides absolute accuracy ±5% at the calibrated wavelengths, and its linearity with power is ±2% from 1 to 10 kW. The probe allows hands-free operation in automatic mode. The handle swivels ±90° in relation to the absorber head, and a 5-mm-character liquid crystal display is integrated into it. Multiple measurements can be made before the probe has to be cooled, and the device will store the last three readings made.
