For Pulsed Characterization of Laser Diodes
BOZEMAN, Mont., July 8 –- ILX Lightwave, a maker of laser diode instrumentation and test systems, today announced the introduction of the LDP-3840B, a precision-pulsed current source developed specifically for pulsing low- and medium-power laser diodes. The LDP-3840B replaces the original LDP-3840/03 and is now CE marked.
The pulsed current source was designed for clean pulses at laser diode load levels with ILX trademark laser diode protection features delivering up to 3 A of low noise current with fast rise times and low overshoot. The LDP-3840B includes a GPIB/IEEE-488 interface for automated testing and characterization of laser diodes. For system integration, the LDP-3840B offers input and output triggers to control pulses and initiate corresponding measurements without a command program.
According to Thaddeus Orosz, instrumentation product manager at ILX, “Pulse-testing laser diodes is important in laser diode development and manufacturing, especially in prepackaged form where adequate heat sinking is not practical.”
