Laser Diode Drivers
Lumina Power Inc. has announced the release of a new line of DC input laser diode drivers for the medical and industrial laser markets. The LDPC diode drivers are designed in response to industry demand for smaller packaging as this new light-based technology continues to migrate into applications such as dermatology, dentistry, industrial marking and welding.

The drivers are available with power levels to 300 W and output currents to 70 A. All models require 12-, 15- or 24-VDC from a battery or an AC to DC power supply. They are RoHS-compliant and feature an easy to use analog interface. An optional protective case and internal fan are also available.

Current ripple is 0.25%, regulation is 0.5%, and current overshoot is <1% of maximum output current. Typical rise and fall time is 50 µs, and operating temperature is from 0 to 40 °C. The drivers are protected against reverse input voltage, input overvoltage and overtemperature.

They are suitable for use in medical laser systems, mobile lasers, and continuous-wave and pulsed applications.
