TORRINGTON, Conn., April 19, 2010 — Dymax Corp.'s Ultra-Red 1120-M-UR is an ultrafast, tack-free, LED-curable plastic bonding medical device adhesive formulated for fast, on-demand cure with the company’s new BlueWave LED Prime UVA spot-curing lamp.

The adhesive was designed for rapid bonding of a wide variety of plastics typically used in the manufacture of medical devices such as oxygenators, blood pumps, tube sets, port fittings and drug delivery devices. The fast cure and limited heat emitted by the UVA lamp provide a system suitable for heat-sensitive substrates, where thin walls may be subject to warping or stretching.

It fluoresces bright red under low-intensity "black" light (365 nm). The bright red fluorescence contrasts well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in color (like PVC) and assists with visual inspection of the bond-line area. Bondable substrates include ABS, CAP, PA, PC, PI, PS, PU, PVC and SAN.

The medical device adhesive cures upon exposure to light. Its ability to cure in seconds enables faster processing and greater output, resulting in lower processing costs.

When cured with proprietary UV light-curing spot lamps, focused-beam lamps or flood lamps, it delivers optimum speed and performance for maximum efficiency. The lamp offers a good balance of UV and visible light for fast, deep cures. The product is in full compliance with the RoHS Directives 2002/95/EC and 2003/11EC and is ISO 10993/USP Class VI-compliant.
