SOLIHULL, England, June 24, 2013 — Arden Photonics Ltd. has released the Aerospace light source (ALS) for insertion loss testing of passive fiber optic components in aerospace applications.

With 85/85% launch condition, the handheld device combines a highly stable LED with the proprietary ModCon mode controller for factory or site use. Test kits containing light source/power meter and test cords in a waterproof Peli case also are available.

The modal launch conditions for the company’s Aerospace modal controllers are specified in terms of the width of the near-field pattern at 5%, 15% and 75% of the maximum. A certificate of conformance or a test certificate (850 and 1300 nm) giving details of how it was measured are available as options.
