OsramOpto.jpgTwo white versions of the Oslon LX LED from Osram Opto Semiconductors are now available for backlighting LCD panels. Measuring 3 × 3 × 1.6 mm, the 1-W LED is suitable for side injection into lightguides with thicknesses of 2 to 4 mm. Available for two color spaces, the multiwhite version covers 100% of the sRGB color space and has a typical light output of 75 lm, while the ultrawhite version covers 80% of the color space, with a typical light output of 90 lm. Its lens is optimized for maximum light extraction, and its beam characteristic ensures a high injection efficiency of almost 80%.
