LED Controller
Linear Technology (See Analog Devices)
Linear Technology Corp. has announced the LT8391 synchronous buck-boost DC/DC LED controller that regulates LED current from input voltages above, below and equal to the output voltage.
Its 4- to 60-V input voltage range makes it ideal for automotive, industrial and architectural lighting applications. Output voltage can be set from 0 to 60 V, enabling the driving of a wide range of LEDs in a single string. An internal four-switch buck-boost controller, combined with four external C-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors, deliver 10 to over 100 W of LED power.
Both internal and external LED current pulse width modulation dimming are provided using an external, high side P-type metal-oxide-semiconductor switch. The device is offered in a 28-lead, 4 × 5-mm quad flat no-lead package or a thermally enhanced thin-shrink small outline package to provide a very compact solution footprint.
