HAMBURG, Germany, March 22, 2010 – Sharp Microelectronics Europe has developed the MiniZeni series high-power warm white and pure white LED modules. The six models have compact outer dimensions and are flat, economical and bright. Measuring 15 × 12 × 1.6 mm, they use a ceramic plate as the carrier material. Color rendering index is at least 87 at all color temperatures.

The modular multichip LEDs are available in 6.7- and 3.6-W versions. The components are individual blue LEDs coated with phosphorous, interconnected in a matrix and installed on the ceramic plate. The square LED matrix of the 6.7-W models consists of 45 LEDs arranged in fifteen parallel-switched series of threes and produces a luminous flux of 355 to 410 lm. The matrix of the 3.6-W versions has 24 LEDs arranged in eight parallel-switched series of threes and achieves a luminous flux of up to 230 lm. Color temperature ranges from 2700 to 5000 K.

Applications include photography, medical technology, shop window decoration and merchandise presentation. The LEDs meet the requirements of the international Energy Star Program.
