TAIPEI, Taiwan, Nov. 29, 2010 — GlacialLight, a subdivision of GlacialTech Inc., has released the environmentally friendly LED Vega series, a direct replacement for halogen AR111 lamps. With a proprietary specially designed LED driver onboard, the GL-AR111 LED Vega series is compatible with all electronic transformers and can be placed immediately in any halogen AR111 lamp socket.
Commonly used in cabinet displays, architectural accenting, hallways and commercial outlets, halogen AR111 lamps require more energy and have shorter life spans than these new LEDs, according to the company. The low level of heat radiation allows users to see a reduction in their lighting energy and cooling bills. Rated at more than 50,000 h of life and able to accommodate an input voltage of 12 V ±10% provided by either an AC or a DC source to power the built-in LED driver, the Vega series LEDs are more convenient and flexible than the halogen AR111 lamps confined to an AC source.
The LEDs contain no hazardous chemicals, such as mercury, or harmful radiation emissions such as UV or IR, making them more eco-friendly than the traditional incandescent lighting fixtures. Power conversion efficiency is greater than 80%.
Two models are available. The GL-MR1605WH-WW has a correlated color temperature of 3000 K, and the GL-MR1605WH-CW, 5000 K. Luminous flux is 520 and 650 lm, and luminance is 43 and 54 lm/W, respectively. The warm white model displays an illumination of 250 lx at 1 m, while the cool white bulbs are brighter, with 360 lx at 1 m.
Power consumption is 12 W, beam angle is 25º, color rendering index is >75, and the base is G53. The RoHS-compliant LEDs are compatible with electronic transformers without LED drivers.
Applications include architectural, cabinet, commercial, spot, accent and hallway lighting.
