The V3LC lens-motor controller has been released by Image Labs International (ILI). The device enables computer control of motorized lenses and pan-tilt units, networking up to 16 lens controllers to one PC. It allows the user to regulate zoom, focus and iris from a computer, and to control two lenses independently or in stereo. The lens speed can be adjusted for fine-tuning control. By changing among 6, 8 and 12 V, the same controller can be used with lenses from different manufacturers. It runs off 15 VDC, has ASCII RS-232/-485 serial communications protocol, and comes with a software development kit and example code. Software is provided for writing application-specific interfaces.
