The Flaw Extractor Plus from i2S Line Scan is a real-time processing module for Horizon line-scan boards. It uses field-programmable gate-array technology to provide image-processing functions for high-speed analysis of objects and defects. Features include up to 7 x 7-kernel convolution and morphological filtering, up to 32 x 32-kernel averaging filters, and operators for real-time thresholding and color/space conversion. The device enables many 2-D processing operators to be run in hardware on the Horizon board, which, the company says, improves system performance. It is compatible with Horizon-Link and -4LC boards and most line-scan cameras, and its applications include document scanning and web, semiconductor-wafer, PC-board and color inspection.
