Newport Corp. has introduced the LIP275 and LIP175 vibration-isolation series for various laboratory applications, including balances, microscopes, shakers and other sensitive equipment.

The LIP275 series features a polyvinyl chloride platform with a nonstick neoprene surface supported by three or four vibration-isolation bearings. The passive mechanical bearings employ proprietary technology to protect equipment from ambient vibrations and mechanical shocks. Platform sizes range from 8 × 10 in. to 12 × 22 in. with a load capacity up to 52 lb.

The LIP175, which is designed for less demanding applications, features patent-pending elastomeric bearings that isolate vibrations horizontally and vertically. With sizes from 9 × 12 in. to 12 × 22 in. and a load capacity up to 40 lb, the series is suitable for low- to medium-power microscopes, balances and other vibration-sensitive equipment.

According to the company, the equipment counteracts the vibrations caused by HVAC equipment, elevators, traffic, footsteps, shakers and other things in the laboratory environment that can cause significant errors in sensitive experiments.
