Carl Zeiss MicroImaging Inc. has launched the AxioCam HS series high-speed digital cameras for neurobiology, developmental biology and virology applications. Available in color and monochrome models, the cameras acquire 60 to 200 images per second, using a 660 × 494 array of 9.9 × 9.9-µm pixels to achieve a dynamic range of 1:1800. They provide exposure times of 0.25 ms to 60 s and feature a FireWire connection that enables transfer of moving images to a hard drive in real time. The monochrome version exhibits spectral sensitivity of 350 to 1000 nm, and the color version, of 400 to 720 nm.
