The GTAT Advanced Materials Group (AMG) has developed a new sapphire growth process for producing over 22.5” diameter, extremely high-quality, sapphire crystals. The Large Sized Optical HEM Sapphire material has achieved optical performance that has never been achieved in the past.
Large Size Optical HEM Sapphire
Windows fabricated from these large sized boules are being polished to wave front values of 1/20th wave PV and better over the entire clear aperture. These crystals are supporting the industry’s need for durable, reliable, multi-spectral, high optical quality aeronautical windows. These large sapphire crystals are available in sizes of up to 22.5” in diameter with no window thickness restrictions. This high purity material can be manufactured to your optical requirements in A-plane and C-plane configurations with no bubbles or inclusions.

The window blanks are manufactured in our state-of-the-art sapphire window blank machining cell in Salem, Massachusetts. Unique, large sized sapphire components such as domes, tubes and pistons are also available with precision surfaces according to your needs.
