Laser-Beam Steering Correction
Newport - New FocusRequest Info
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 29, 2012 — A laser beam steering correction system has been introduced by New Focus, a Newport Corp. brand. The picomotor mirror-mount-based GuideStar II delivers reliable and precise control of laser pointing and position drift.
It includes two independent picomotor-actuated motorized mirror mounts to provide manual and active four-axis control with good passive stability. Two miniature CMOS cameras provide position sensing and continuous tracking of laser beam positions and profiles. The system’s patented control algorithm ensures correct alignment of the laser beam in X and Y, and in the near- and far-fields.
The GuideStar II controller can be connected to cameras and to a Windows computer using the USB ports, making it easy to view beam profiles, position and shape data in real time; alternatively, the data can be tracked, stored and analyzed later. The included DVD software and setup menu guide new users through installation. Intuitive and simple settings menus permit user control over a variety of camera and beam stabilization parameters.
The flexible steering correction system offers complete position, pointing and beam profile tracking, and it is suitable for research, laboratory and industrial applications that require precise control and guaranteed critical alignment of complex laser systems.
