NORTH LOGAN, Utah, Aug. 19, 2014 — Combining a compact, portable design with high power ranges, the LBS-400 laser beamsplitter from Ophir Photonics controls and adjusts the output power of large beams.

The device measures UV, NIR and IR wavelength beams with diameters up to 1 in. and power levels from 10 mW to 500 W. The preferential polarization-selection effect of a single wedge is cancelled out, with the resulting polarization-corrected beam image showing the restored polarization components of the original beam.

The splitters reflect approximately 1 percent of the input beam, allowing 99 percent of the beam to pass through at a 5° angle into a beam dump of power meter. A set of adjustable filters reduces the intensity of the beam before it reaches the camera.
