Dornier MedTech has announced the HeatFlex holmium laser fiber, featuring heat-resistance technology to withstand the extreme temperatures and conditions associated with antiprion sterilization processes.

Steam sterilization at a temperature of 134 °C for 18 minutes has been recommended by international health authorities to provide better assurance of preventing prion disease. HeatFlex fibers are designed to tolerate these levels without compromising treatment performance when dealing with issues such as kidney stones.

Applications include use in urology, among other health fields.
