Laser Gold for NIST Gold Calibration Standard
Epner Technology Inc.Request Info
BROOKLYN, N.Y., July 1, 2012 — Epner Technology has announced the return of its exclusive NIST-traceable infrared reflectance standard calibration mirror.
Available to laboratories across the US for infrared calibration, the return marks a quarter-century relationship between Epner Technology and NIST.
The relationship started in the late 1970s when Epner’s electrochemically deposited laser gold was chosen by the then National Bureau of Standards to replace its evaporated gold-coated reference mirror.
NIST again turned to laser gold’s reflectance and ruggedness for a nationwide “Star” Inter-Comparison of Infrared Reflectivity study, which involved 23 US Department of Defense and private optical laboratories. The mirrors supplied by Epner are the same NIST-traceable standard mirrors that are again available around the world through the Epner technology website.
The company specializes in plating difficult metal substrates including molybdenum, titanium and beryllium, and plating engineering plastics such as Ultem, Teflon, Torlon and Ryton.
