Faro Technologies Inc. has announced the Freestyle3D X handheld laser scanner for 3D data acquisition.

The device delivers scanning accuracy of 1 mm at a 1-m range. The Freestyle3D X is available with a National Institute of Standard and Technology traceable calibration accessory to provide users with verifiable data accuracy critical for forensic scanning and other highly regulated industries.

An automatic flash mode enables users to scan objects in a variety of lighting conditions. New software tools deliver highly detailed visualizations of the created 3D point cloud, while an integrated best-point filter enhances the scan data quality by reducing noise up to 35 percent.

The device is suitable for use in architecture, engineering, construction and law enforcement.
